Google AdSense is great for beginners. It is usually the first Ad program that most bloggers join. It is also a requirement before applying to a lot of Ad Networks such as Mediavine and Raptive, to be in good standing with Google Adsense. AdSense is a great first step, although not the most lucrative. Here are 9 alternatives to monetizing your blog besides Adsense.
Other Ad Networks
- Mediavine Journey (this is a newer program that requires 10,000 page views in the last 30 days)
- Mediavine (requires 50,000 page views in the last 30 days)
- Raptive (requires 100,000 page views in the last 30 days)
There are other smaller ad networks, but the reviews are mixed: Media.net, Amazon Native Shopping Ads, SkimLinks, Bidvertizer, Info Links, SHE Media, Buy Sell Ads, Ad Click, Ezoic, and Monumeric. Read the rules, some networks require a contract to join such as a year. Also, there are some complaints of ads slowing down sites, or looking spammy.
Consider driving more traffic to your website until you can apply to one of the top Ad Networks, and monetizing your blog in another way before.
Affiliate Marketing
Tips
- Check your website hosting provider to see if they have an affiliate program, you could add a banner on your sidebar or footer and say “This Site Is Run On Hosting Company Name.” For example, this site is run on Bluehost and comes recommended by Create A Great Blog. You can sign up to be a Bluehost affiliate either on their website or on Impact. Hosting companies often offer a higher affiliate payout of $50 or more.
- If you want to market a specific product or service, go to the company website and see if they have an affiliate program.
- Look for higher paying affiliate programs offering $25 or more per sign up or purchase.
- Some blogs have income reports. Check their income reports to see how much they are earning from Affiliate Marketing and which companies they are earning from and the percentage.
Sponsored Content
Companies will pay blogger’s to write a blog post about their product or service. As always, you need to disclose if something is a sponsored post.
Sell Ad Placements
Companies will pay to place their advertising on a website, such as on the sidebar. Create an “Advertise” page on your blog with statistics, audience demographics, and how to contact you for more information. You could try contacting companies directly depending on the amount of traffic you receive to your blog.
